Basia Belza, PhD, RN, FAAN, is a professor in theSchool of Nursing and the Aljoya Endowed Professor in Aging at the University of Washington (UW). She holds an adjunct professor appointment in the School of Public Health, and is an investigator with the Health Promotion Research Center (HPRC). She has a sustained record of thoughtful and scholarly activity directed toward improving the health of older adults through the dissemination and implementation of evidence- and community-based health promotion programs.
As lead of the Coordinating Center for the CDC-funded Healthy Aging Research Network, Dr. Belza oversees the development and implementation of a national research and dissemination agenda related to the public health aspects of healthy aging. She also is primary investigator of a multi-state CDC Special Interest Project (SIP) on the development of an Evidence-informed Mall Walking Program Guide. She is the lead investigator at the HPRC working with Senior Services and EnhanceFitness, and the first HPRC investigator to collaborate on a national research study with the Y of USA.
